1. Let Your Skin Settle in the First Few Hours
For the first 8 to 12 hours after the session, do not wash your face and avoid touching the area. The active ingredients that were applied need time to be absorbed and work at depth. If you need to touch your face, make sure your hands are completely clean to avoid any irritation or infection.
2. Cleansing and Hydration with Gentle Products
From the next day and for the first 2 to 3 days, use lukewarm water and a very gentle cleanser with no fragrances or alcohol. For hydration, turn to products containing hyaluronic acid or soothing creams recommended by your specialist. These ingredients support healing, reduce the feeling of tightness, and restore the skin barrier.
3. SPF 50+ Sun Protection Daily
After Dermapen, the skin is particularly sensitive to sun radiation and there is an increased risk of hyperpigmentation. For the next 1 to 2 weeks, the use of sunscreen with SPF 50+ is essential even on cloudy days or when you remain indoors near windows. Reapply every 2 hours when exposed to the sun.
4. Avoid Anything That Irritates the Skin
For the first 48 to 72 hours, keep away from:
- Make-up for the first 24 to 48 hours
- Products containing retinol, AHA or BHA acids
- Intense exercise, sauna, hammam, and hot baths
- Swimming pool and sea, due to the risk of infection
Sweating and heat can worsen redness and burden the healing process.
5. Prioritise Hygiene
Although it may seem like a small detail, changing your pillowcase on the first night reduces the skin's contact with bacteria. The same applies to face towels, which must be clean and exclusively yours. These actions protect the sensitive skin while it heals.
6. Know What Is Normal
Do not worry if during the first 1 to 3 days you notice redness, a mild feeling of warmth, slight swelling, or gentle peeling. These are expected reactions indicating that your skin is activating its renewal mechanisms. If symptoms persist longer or intense discomfort appears, contact your specialist.
