What is Cog Thread Treatment? The placement of Cog threads on the face and neck is a minimally invasive treatment for skin laxity, with the aim of restoring it to an ideal position. Cog threads are 100% bio-absorbable and specially designed with barbs. These barbs create minimal micro-injuries to the skin, within the dermis. In this way, the natural stimulation of collagen and elastin production is promoted . By harnessing the healing process, we achieve lifting of the application area. Over time, the composition and appearance of the skin progressively change. The skin slackens, loses volume, while superficial and deeper wrinkles appear as collagen production gradually decreases. Cog threads, like PDO threads, although different from each other, are indicated for cases of mild skin laxity. However, for cases of severe laxity, the ideal solution is a surgical facelift. Procedure After a discussion with the doctor and selecting the area we wish to improve, the doctor will mark the entry point for the threads and their trajectory. Subsequently, the area is sterilized and local anesthesia is administered with an anesthetic solution. Through a small opening created, the doctor inserts the threads (usually 2 in number), and after positioning them correctly, pulls them backwards to achieve the "hooking" and gentle lift. There is also the option for these two threads to be tied together with a knot hidden under the skin, thus ensuring better and longer-lasting results . Cog thread treatment is minimally invasive, and while bruising and swelling may appear in the application area, they typically subside within 7-12 days .
Application Duration and Results The procedure lasts approximately 30-45 minutes , depending on the area and the number of threads to be placed. Upon completion of the procedure, results are largely visible, but they continue to improve over a few weeks. Does the treatment cause irritation?
After thread placement, swelling and bruising may occur in the application area, but these subside within 7-12 days. If there is pain, it can be relieved with painkillers.
