Facemed Logo Icon

What is Aqualyx?

Aqualyx is an injectable, non-surgical lipolysis treatment for localized fat and cellulite.

The material that is injected through the needle is called desozycholinic acid, which is a substance that is normally produced by the body in the liver to metabolize fat.

Application points

It can generally be applied almost all over the body, to treat local fat and cellulite, but more specifically it is applied to:
  • Buttocks
  • Double jaw
  • Interior of the thighs
  • Hands
  • Waist
  • Belly
  • Knees
  • Bosom

Procedure

Using a very thin flexible needle, Aqualyx is placed under the skin, in the area we want to improve, directly on the adipose tissue.

Deoxycholic acid adheres to the walls of fat cells, destroying their cell membrane, making them unstable.

The body's defenses remove cellular debris, while unbound adipocytes are metabolized, so they are converted into energy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Aqualyx treatment painful?

We can say that this is an almost painless treatment, since the adipose tissue does not show aesthetics. In addition, the Aqualyx material itself contains a local anesthetic so the pain is not a concern for the application of the treatment.

Are there any side effects?

At the end of the procedure, the application area becomes red and there is a possibility of slight swelling.

As with all injectable treatments using a subcutaneous needle, a very small hematoma may appear at the point of entry.

The above are expected side effects, but they subside within a few days so there is no cause for concern.
