What is fungal infection?
Skin fungus is a common condition associated with everyday life.
Fungi are everywhere, they love summer, heat and humidity, they affect people of all ages, they are usually easily treated and rarely something serious develops.
Fungi are very common pathogens, found in nature, water, animals and infect animals, plants and humans.

Categories of fungal infections
Superficial fungal infections are caused by dermatophytes caused by dermatophytes in yeasts (such as candida) and the variegated dandruff caused by a fungus that grows exclusively on the stratum corneum of the skin.
The fungi that cause dermatophytes are divided into three categories:
- In hair plants found on the skin, nails and hair
- In the microspores, which are located on the skin and scalp
- In epidermophytes

Diagnosis
The correct diagnosis of fungal infection is made by the specialist doctor who is the Dermatologist - Venereologist.
Proper diagnosis is essential as many skin manifestations may look like fungus but may indicate another condition, such as psoriasis.
The diagnosis can be confirmed by examination of material from the skin under a microscope or, if necessary, by culture.
Treatment
Most mild skin infections are treated locally with antifungal therapy. If the treatment is not effective or if the extent of the skin lesion is large, then the doctor may also recommend oral treatment.
It is worth noting that some types of fungal infections, such as onychomycosis, can take several months to heal.
