Pink & Prevention for the Women We Love
October is moving in pink hues across the planet. Soft in appearance but strong in semiotics, the color pink is stereotypically associated with femininity and feminine nature. In addition, for several years it has symbolized breast cancer awareness and solidarity with women who won the battle for life but also with those who gave it and continue to give it every day in every corner of the planet.
It also reminds us of the value of prevention against breast cancer, which remains a deadly threat to women of all ages.
Breast cancer is the first cause of death from cancer in the female sex. However, when detected at an early stage, the chances of survival are extremely high.
On the occasion of October, a month dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer, the International Agency for Research on Cancer of the World Health Organization (WHO) focuses on the need for breast cancer screening worldwide, as well as on the effects of cancer deaths breast.

Note that according to IARC data in 2020, 2.6 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer, while in the same year 685,000 lost the battle for life from the disease.
Breast cancer is a malignant tumor in the breast that is created by cells in the area. It usually starts from the cells of the lobules (the glands that produce milk) or from the ducts that channel the milk from the lobules to the nipple.

Prevention is the Key to Cure
The treatment of breast cancer remains to this day a great challenge for the scientific community, while at the same time prevention and more specifically secondary prevention is the key to dealing with the disease.
The necessity of prevention, which seems to have been realized by young women in our country.
It is very important for every woman to:
- she regularly checks her breast by palpation, at least once a month
- she visits her doctor immediately if she notices any change in her breasts (e.g. change in the color of the skin, liquid from the nipple, etc.)
- do not neglect the annual checkup with a mammogram or at the intervals recommended by the doctor
