The female body, as time goes on, inevitably it changes. But what happens after 40? What changes do we see in the body and what effect do these have on our endurance and our external appearance?
Changes in the Female Body over time
What initially happens is a loss of muscle mass. As we get older we lose muscle tissue, that is estimated at about 250 gr per year. This fact, in combination with the hormonal changes that take place in the body, have as a consequence the increase of body weight. Our body burns fewer calories. Therefore, in order to have a healthy body weight and avoid the accumulation of pounds, women of this age must pay attention to their daily diet.
Over time, the female body also loses its ability to absorb calcium and other vitamins that they utilize to increase bone density. Every year our body has a loss of 1% of its bone mass. But women can strengthen their bones through daily exercise. Especially with some weight lifting exercises we can prevent the evolutionary loss of bone mass which eventually leads to osteoporosis.
Something very important that we should not miss is the occurrence of breast cancer especially after the age of 30. There is of course a slight stabilization of the rates between the ages of 45 to 50. But again the rates of women with the disease in this decade are constantly growing. Indications that should alarm us are the palpation of a solid mass in the chest, nipple sagging, sagging skin of the breast (orange peel) or other skin lesions that are signs of the disease. No woman should neglect to be monitored by her gynecologist at regular intervals
Female Body & Menopause
A major issue at this age is menopause. This period starts gradually and can appear in the middle or at the end of the 4th decade of our life with very discreet symptoms. There is a decrease in the production of estrogen in our body. As a result, a disorder of their levels and other hormones. An important symptom of menopause is irregular menstruation. This symptom occurs in 90% of women during the 4 years before menopause.
The result of these hormonal disorders is trouble sleeping, hot flashes and irritability. This period gradually leads to a reduction in the chances of having children, something that many women find difficult to accept.
Female Body & Hormonal Disorders
It is also observed that through various hormonal disorders many glands in the female body modify their function. The most important is the thyroid gland, which is one of the organs that affects daily life either under-functioning or over-functioning.
This results in problems such as weight gain or loss, discomfort in the cold or heat and the alternation of constipation - diarrhea. The pancreas, respectively, reduces its ability to metabolize insulin. As a result, blood glucose levels rise several times and diabetes occurs.
The changes that women's skin undergoes are also inevitable. Estrogen deficiency plays an important role in these changes. As a result we have the loss of collagen and the reduction of the thickness of the skin. The consequence of this is the appearance of many small wrinkles.
Facemed is for us women the ideal ally in the daily battle we give against time, moving together and always guided by the health of the skin and the coverage of the needs that arise for each woman individually. Together we can achieve great results. To improve our appearance, to maintain the health of our body and to boost our self-confidence.
